Visitors' Guidelines - USNS COMFORT (T-AH 20)

Thank you for inquiring about a tour of the U.S. Navy's most prestigious hospital ship. In order to ensure the safety and well being of those visiting the ship, the following guidelines have been instituted:

1. All visitors boarding the ship must be:

a. At least 8 years of age

b. Visitors must be mobile and able to climb a relatively steep 50 foot gangway, in order to access the ship, and able to sustain walking/standing for approximately 1 ?½ hours (length of the average tour).

c. As the USNS COMFORT is a working naval vessel; it does not fall under the rules and regulations set by the Federal Disabilities Act.

2. Once onboard the USNS COMFORT, please remember that you are a guest and that you board at your own risk.

Below is a list of helpful hints to make your time onboard more comfortable and enjoyable:

a. Wear comfortable footwear, as the tour involves a lot of walking. Do not wear heels, as they are dangerous on the gangway entering the ship.

b. Due to security measures, all bags, purses, and etc are subject to search by authorized representatives of the Master of the ship.

c. Restrooms are available at the beginning and end of the tours. Alert your guide and they will point out these facilities to you.

d. Ask plenty of questions, and cameras are allowed.
